WirelessCar Joins the EVRoaming Foundation

April 14th, 2026

WirelessCar has joined the EVRoaming Foundation, the global organization maintaining and advancing the Open Charge Point Interface (OCPI), an open protocol that enables data exchange and interaction between charge point operators and e-mobility service providers.

Through OCPI, the industry can share information on charging availability, pricing, and charger access across Charge Point Operators (CPOs), helping enable EV drivers to charge across providers as they travel.

“The EVRoaming Foundation welcomes WirelessCar as a new Full Contributor. Strengthening the connection between vehicles and charging infrastructure is increasingly important, particularly in the heavy-duty segment, where better insight into arrival times and energy demand is essential for effective charging operations,” said Michel Bayings, Executive Director of the EVRoaming Foundation.

“Connected vehicles generate critical information about vehicle status, charging needs, and energy consumption,” said Mateo Sotomayor, Vice President of EV Experience at WirelessCar. “Integrating this vehicle-side intelligence with charging infrastructure and mobility services is key to building a more seamless EV charging experience.”

As part of the EVRoaming Foundation, WirelessCar will collaborate with stakeholders across the EV ecosystem to support the continued development of open standards and interoperability. WirelessCar looks forward to contributing its expertise in connected vehicle data and telematics to the EVRoaming Foundation community.

WirelessCar develops and operates connected vehicle services built on vehicle telematics and real-time data connectivity, with more than 18 million connected vehicles in over 100 markets worldwide. Integrating vehicle data with charging infrastructure and mobility services can help improve how charging services are delivered and strengthen interoperability across the EV ecosystem.

As part of this collaboration, WirelessCar will explore how the open standard OCPI could evolve to address gaps in the connection between vehicles and the EV charging ecosystem. Closer integration of vehicle data with charging infrastructure has the potential to simplify the charging experience and unlock new efficiencies for drivers, operators, and mobility service providers.

WirelessCar’s membership reflects the company’s focus on industry collaboration and open technology standards as the EV charging landscape continues to expand. Interoperability between vehicles, charging infrastructure, and digital mobility services will be an important factor in supporting EV adoption globally.
