Recently, AWS announced their Connected Vehicle Solution – an architecture blueprint and implementation guide for some basic services in the connected vehicle space. The solution is leveraging many of the existing serverless services in the AWS platform and highlights useful patterns for handling data ingestion from connected vehicles. WirelessCar embraces the announcement as it is a great starting point for launching real connected vehicle services. We have during several years built our solution on top of the AWS platform and are pleased to see how their targeting the vehicle industry will help us develop and build even better value for our customers.
What does WirelessCar Platform add?
The AWS IoT family of services as a very good fit for us to base automotive applications on. For example, it offers a phenomenal rules engine that allows us to integrate our customers’ vehicles with many of the existing AWS services in a straight forward way. So the AWS Connected Vehicle Solution is a great start, but to build and maintain a complete connected vehicle program a lot more is needed. Considerable customization and additional development is needed to get a complete system.

In many cases our services are built using AWS serverless technology such as Lambda, Kinesis, DynamoDB and API Gateway. Our first service developed using serverless was a highly scalable Trip service, which then has been followed by several others as well. We are currently also developing services based on the AWS IoT Core and AWS IoT Device Management.
