Background
WirelessCar first offered services in North America in 2002. Over the course of time customers have included Volvo Cars, BMW, Volvo Trucks, Mack Trucks, Volvo Construction Equipment and Prevost Buses.
Volvo Car’s OnCall+ program was the first customer launched by WirelessCar in North America. In 2002, this was quite revolutionary to have a standardized telematics program available on two different continents. Although the program was short lived it provided WirelessCar with a tremendous amount of experience.
Programs for WirelssCar’s commercial customers have been steadily coming of age. Volvo Truck’s system Volvo Link has been operational since 2004 and was seen as an innovative leader at the time. Since that time, Volvo Group Brands have increasingly offered telematics solutions for their customers. Not surprisingly, commercial telematics is viewed as a core competence and a necessary technology to offer competitive solutions today.
